International Partner Programme
The International Partner Programme (IPP) is launching its permanent edition, offering structured career development for accompanying partners of international professionals who have relocated to Sweden. It is designed for those who want to better understand the Swedish labour market and take the next step in their professional journey in Sweden.
Career guidance for accompanying partners
As we celebrate 5 years of International House Gothenburg, the program continues our mission of empowering international talent and their families to thrive in the Gothenburg region.
Through a combination of seminars, workshops, networking opportunities, and company visits, participants gain practical tools, knowledge, and connections that help them navigate professional life in Sweden.
How the programme is structured
The program is built around four progressive stages that guide participants from understanding the system to actively engaging with the labour market.
-
1
Understand – learn the basics
You get an introduction to Sweden’s economy, labour market and workplace culture. We explain employment types, what employers look for and how economic trends can shape job opportunities.
-
2
Orient – find your direction
In this stage, you map your skills and goals. We look at recognition of foreign qualifications, skills assessment, realistic career planning and possible next steps – including further studies or starting your own business.
-
3
Position – present yourself professionally
Here you learn how to highlight your experience in a way that matches Swedish standards. We go through how recruitment works in Sweden, how to write a CV and cover letter, how to use LinkedIn effectively, and what to expect when it comes to references and salary levels.
-
4
Act – take the next step
The final stage helps you build networks and start engaging with the labour market. You learn about mentorship, volunteering and the hidden job market. The programme also includes company visits in the region, giving you direct access to employers and industries.
The pilot edition of the International Partner Programme was a fantastic opportunity to understand the skills and potential of people from over the world living in Sweden, and to engage companies in supporting their integration into the Swedish labour market.
