Thousands of healthcare innovators and professionals from across the world will gather in Gothenburg later this month for Vitalis, the largest eHealth event in Scandinavia.

“From a business point of view Vitalis is the right place to be if you want to understand the Swedish healthcare needs - for offering matching solutions. As in many other countries we are looking for solutions that can reduce our healthcare costs, while offering clear benefits to patients,” says Iris Öhrn, investment advisor for life science and healthcare at Business Region Göteborg.

Strong Scandinavian representation

For Finnish companies in the healthcare sector, Sweden is the most important market, explains Business Finland’s Nima Jokilaakso.

“For these companies, active participation at Vitalis is a must. The companies can meet potential customers and partners to present their innovative solutions for, while learning what is happening in the sector. We hope to gain business leads and start new relations at the event in Gothenburg,” he says.

Norway will also have a strong presence at Vitalis, including a Norwegian Pavilion, where around eight companies are involved.

“The Swedish market is the first market Norwegian companies expand to, and especially when it comes to the healthcare industry, where Sweden and Norway have similar challenges and similar but not identical healthcare systems,” says Innovation Norway’s Ervin Alić.

“We hope that both we as organizers but also all our participating companies will get new insights from the Nordic healthtech industry and the Swedish healthcare market. We will surely expand our network and hopefully find relevant partners for future collaboration,” he adds.

ScanBalt, an innovation network in Europe, will also be active at Vitalis.

“Firstly, we aim to network with other stakeholders in the industry and establish new partnerships and collaborations. Secondly, it gives us the possibility to highlight the topics that are relevant to us. Thirdly, it gives us the chance to join the discussion about the latest developments and trends in eHealth, particularly in the areas of data sharing and interoperability, and how it can contribute to the development of the European Health Data Space,” says Triin Vakker, Project Manager at ScanBalt BioRegion and Tartu Biotechnology Park.

In total around 4,800 people, representing corporates, startups, investors, academia and other stakeholders, are expected to take part in the event. We at Business Region Göteborg are also participating. Among other things, we have a Gothenburg stand where you can learn more about business and collaboration opportunities.

“We will be there and can provide companies with relevant information about Gothenburg and its innovation ecosystem, as well as how we can support companies who are interested in expanding into the Gothenburg region. We will also host sessions where you can meet some of the stakeholders in our innovation ecosystem, as well as previous winners of the HealthTech award,” says Iris Öhrn.
