Electrified Transport
Gothenburg’s integrated approach and openness to collaboration, combined with a complete ecosystem for vehicle manufacturing, has put us in a unique position when it comes to making the transition to an electrified and connected transport system.
Gothenburg has decided to switch to entirely fossil-free transport by 2030. This adaptation to Agenda 2030 is in line with the city's objective of embracing the technology transition to electrified transport in order to maximise benefits. The transition will have a bearing on everything from urban development to the charging infrastructure. This will open up entirely new business opportunities for international companies operating in these areas.
Gothenburg is an innovative region with close collaboration between the public sector, industry, and academia. Complete value chains for both cars and heavy vehicles are already in place, along with the necessary knowledge and experience for developing transport solutions – all the way from idea to finished product and system.
The city’s integrated approach and openness to collaboration, combined with a complete ecosystem for vehicle manufacturing, has put us in a unique position when it comes to making the transition to an electrified and connected transport system. Sweden’s Public Procurement Act will be a powerful tool in this process.
A springboard into the global market
Business Region Göteborg will lead the transition, which includes initiating and coordinating new forms of collaboration between the participating stakeholders to facilitate a large-scale rollout of an electrified vehicle fleet together with underlying mobility solutions.
Our ambitions also include making Gothenburg the best equipped city in Sweden when it comes to electric vehicle charging points. Gothenburg will be a testbed, a showroom, and a springboard into the global market for companies that are looking to be involved in developing the necessary electrification solutions.
