Fast-growing Coretura gets the Key to Gothenburg

In little more than a year, Coretura has grown from a newly started operation to around 170 employees in Gothenburg. The company has now been awarded the Key to Gothenburg for an establishment that strengthens the region's position in future mobility, software development and connected transport solutions.

Coretura is developing the software-defined vehicle platform that will form the basis for the next generation of commercial vehicles. The company is formed and run jointly by Daimler Truck and Volvo Group, the world's two largest manufacturers of commercial vehicles. The digital platform is open to other manufacturers, and the ambition is to strengthen the whole ecosystem around software-defined vehicles.

The company’s establishment in Gothenburg has in a short time provided the region with highly qualified jobs and attracted specialist expertise from 22 countries.

"The Key to Gothenburg is drawing attention to establishments that make a real difference to the region's development. Coretura shows that Gothenburg stands strong in the international competition for the companies, investments and talents of the future. This is both gratifying and inspiring," says Patrik Andersson, CEO of Business Region Gothenburg.

When the company chose the location of its operations, the choice fell on Gothenburg, a decision that further strengthens the region's position as a European centre for vehicle development, software and innovation.

“This is an honour. We chose Gothenburg deliberately, against other European cities. Since then we have brought people from all over the world here, to a flat organization where decisions are quick, to build the software platform the next generation of commercial vehicles will run on. They come for the mission. Gothenburg is a big part of why they stay,” says Johan Lundén, CEO of Coretura.

Attractive environment for international talent

This year's key was handed over last night during the fifth anniversary of the International House Gothenburg, which helps newly arrived talent settle in Gothenburg, both privately and professionally.

“We are building something unique, as a company and as a product, so we are looking for individuals eager to take on that challenge. Starting over in a new country is hard, for them and for us. International House supports us both through that, and we are grateful for it,” says Johan Lundén.

The Key to Gothenburg is awarded annually by Business Region Göteborg to a national or international establishment that, through investment, jobs or other significant commitments, contributes to the region's long-term development and attractiveness.

Justification

Coretura has been awarded the Key to Gothenburg because it strengthens Gothenburg's position as a leading European centre for the smart and connected transport solutions of the future, attracts international excellence and creates qualified jobs that contribute to the region's long-term competitiveness and growth.

The fact that Coretura chose Gothenburg as a base for this investment is proof of the region's attractiveness as a centre for mobility, technology and international excellence. The company has grown from zero to around 170 employees in a short period of time, and continues to recruit highly qualified talent from all over the world.

By uniting the world’s two largest manufacturers of commercial vehicles in a joint development effort, Coretura is not only contributing to the growth of the region, but also to increased competitiveness, safety and innovation in Europe.
