When Plug and Play Tech Center decided to launch its first Swedish innovation platform, they turned to Business Region Gothenburg for local expertise, contacts and strategic guidance. The establishment strengthens the region’s position in future mobility and gives Gothenburg‑based tech companies access to one of the world’s largest startup networks.
We are thrilled to collaborate with Volvo Cars and the Port of Gothenburg and to open the doors to this new innovation platform focused on sustainable development and digital mobility.
Background
Plug and Play Tech Center is one of the world’s most influential tech‑scouting companies. When they explored a Nordic expansion, Gothenburg stood out: few regions globally offer a complete value chain within the automotive and transport industry, strong competence in electrification and software, and a rapidly growing tech scene.
Business Region Gothenburg provided guidance, insights into the regional innovation landscape and introduced the company to relevant partners such as The Yard, Volvo Cars and Lindholmen Science Park. The collaboration helped Plug and Play quickly understand the opportunities in the region and establish itself at The Yard in Lindholmen in May 2023.
Since then, Plug and Play has become an important part of Gothenburg’s mobility ecosystem and the development of the emerging mobility cluster in Torslanda.
