Innovations and collaborations shine at EVS38
Gothenburg became a global hub for electric mobility when thousands of experts and leaders from industry, academia and the public sector gathered for EVS38 on 15-18 June 2025. The solutions showcased, the knowledge exchanged, and the connections made will shape tomorrow’s transportation system.
“We are delighted to be able to offer this necessary and inspiring meeting point at such an important stage in the transition of mobility,” says Patrik Andersson, CEO at Business Region Göteborg, which co-hosted this year's event.
In total, the conference had around 150 exhibitors, over 7,500 visits and 3,800 attendees from more than 55 countries. Among the visitors were multiple delegations, including from the Netherlands, USA, Germany and Mexico.
Strong involvement from Gothenburg’s companies and organisations
As host city, Gothenburg’s companies and organisations were in the thick of things. In the scientific programme, around 30 abstracts came from actors in the region. There was also a strong local presence on the exhibition floor, with Gothenburg (Business Region Göteborg), Volvo Group, Volvo Cars, Chalmers, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden and many others exhibiting.
Away from the stages and exhibition halls, there were product demonstrations and site visits to leading-edge test, production and education facilities, including SEEL Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory and Battery Centre Gothenburg. There were also networking events at venues ranging from City Hall to the amusement park Liseberg.
Gothenburg has had the opportunity to show what a hotspot for innovation we are - with a wide range of vehicles showcased by our progressive global suppliers, and new major tech investments being announced," says Patrik Andersson, CEO at Business Region Göteborg
Innovations and collaborations are driving progress
Local vehicle makers including Volvo, Volvo Cars and Polestar showcased electric models. Actors involved in Gothenburg Green City Zone presented the initiative and expanded the wireless charging network. Milence unveiled its game-changing megawatt charging system. Volvo and Daimler also launched their joint software company Coretura.
“We have been able to show what’s possible through effective collaboration around smart solutions and create better conditions for: electric freight transport, both long haul and within our city centres; electric water transport for commuting and leisure; realizing benefits of wireless inductive charging and vehicle-to-grid in our cities, and much more,” says Patrik Andersson.
Gothenburg is highly committed to electrification, which is a key pathway to achieving a fossil-free transportation system. This will require innovations and extensive collaboration both between and within the private and public sectors, as well as academia. We look forward to continuing the journey towards a sustainable future together.
EVS38 was arranged by the World Electric Vehicle Association (WEVA), the European Association for Electromobility (AVERE) and GL Events. It was co-hosted by Business Region Göteborg and Göteborg & Co and held at the Swedish Exhibition and Congress Centre. Over 80 supporting organisations helped make this event in Gothenburg possible.
The 2026 edition will be held in Long Beach California.
