Companies flock to new AI Gothenburg
A new hub for AI entrepreneurs has opened its doors in central Gothenburg. More than 100 companies have already applied to join, with around 20 admitted so far—several of which have already begun moving in. AI Gothenburg expects at least 30 companies to be on site by the autumn.
The new hub is designed as a founder-led environment, placing entrepreneurs firmly in the driving seat. Early-stage AI ventures are given the conditions to rapidly develop, validate and launch applied AI solutions, surrounded by peers and in close proximity to Gothenburg’s industrial base.
The team behind AI Gothenburg has already met around 60 of the applicant companies, which range from newly graduated founders to entrepreneurs holding dual doctorates. While AI and technology provide the common thread, the applications are diverse.
Here are some of the companies accepted so far:
- Staer, which develops spatial intelligence for robot fleets, founded by Mapillary co-founder Jan Erik Solem alongside computer vision experts from Apple, Mapillary and Meta.
- The Intelligence Company, a licensed Swedish credit bureau founded by Jens Nylander.
- Pickel, which develops smarter power management and pricing solutions for charging operators.
- Cognivity AI, which embeds battery intelligence directly into devices or vehicles rather than relying on the cloud.
- Forge Systems, which automates design, analysis and compliance for safety-critical product development with full traceability.
- Barrion, which develops a virtual agent to systematically identify vulnerabilities and strengthen cybersecurity.
- Konfliktkollen, which uses AI to review construction documentation and detect inconsistencies, gaps and risks before tendering or building begins.
- Verda Solutions, which develops AI-based infrastructure for insurance management.
AI Gothenburg also hosts companies founded by serial entrepreneurs, including Viktor Nord (Adway), Salman Eskandari (Fintower) and Joel and Emma Rozada (Nexular), with further participants to be announced on an ongoing basis.
A central location in a growing district
The modern premises span around 1,200 sqm and accommodate up to 150 people. In addition to office space, the site includes an event area where AI Gothenburg aims to bring together the city’s AI ecosystem through hackathons, founder talks and other gatherings. The facility will be expanded in stages over the autumn as more companies move in.
“The energy as companies start to move in is hard to put into words. We’re gathering founders who are here to build, and when they sit in the same room, things happen that cannot be engineered,” says Michael Yngfors, co-founder of AI Gothenburg.
About AI Gothenburg
AI Gothenburg is a “founder-first” hub, bringing together ambitious AI entrepreneurs to learn from one another, collaborate and accelerate their progress. The initiative helps open doors to investors, partners and customers, and supports founders in finding co-founders and talent. It also serves as a landing platform for international AI teams looking to develop and expand their solutions in Gothenburg.
Through partnerships, it negotiates access to computing power, AI tools and services, giving startups improved terms. It is neither an incubator nor an accelerator, takes no equity, and selects its own companies. The environment itself is the programme.
The hub is supported by technology partners including Nvidia, Aixia and Qamcom, as well as public and regional partners such as Business Region Göteborg, Chalmers University of Technology, the University of Gothenburg and IHM Business School. National support comes from Business Sweden and AI Sweden.
The establishment of AI Gothenburg is fully aligned with the government’s national priorities in artificial intelligence. The initiative was presented by the responsible minister, Erik Slottner, at Nvidia’s GTC 2026 conference in California in March.
