Cecilia Edebo appointed CEO of Sahlgrenska Science Park
Gothenburg’s life science and health innovation science park has named Cecilia Edebo as its new CEO. Starting early next year, her mission will be to further develop the science park as a leading catalyser of collaborative health innovation.
Cecilia is currently CEO at Cellink, a position she has held for nearly three years. The Gothenburg company is a global market leader in 3D bioprinting and part of the BICO group. She has extensive experience within life science, having held several leading positions as CEO, COO and Vice President Sales & Marketing within Essity across Europe, US and Asia.
“I am extremely honoured and proud to have been trusted with the role of leading Sahlgrenska Science Park into the future. I truly hope that my experience of building and developing strong collaborations as well and knowledge of the life science and healthcare market can contribute to establishing West Sweden and Sweden as one of the world’s most prominent life science hubs,” said Cecilia Edebo in a press release.
The science park is an important part of Gothenburg's innovation ecosystem. It is located in close vicinity to the university hospital, the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology. Among other things, it works to connect industry, academia and healthcare. It also has an accelerator programme for startups and scaleups within health innovation.
“The region holds thousands of prominent scientists, industries, and entrepreneurs all eager to push the boundaries of life science with exciting innovations that may enable revolutionary lifesaving treatments of the future,” said Cecilia Edebo.
The City of Gothenburg, via Business Region Göteborg, is a part owner of Sahlgrenska Science Park.
