Campaign aims to attract talent to Gothenburg's tech scene

The tech scene in Gothenburg is expanding rapidly, with numerous new companies emerging, startups quickly scaling up, and significant investments pouring into these ventures. Now, the focus is on attracting more international expertise and talent to the region.

Gothenburg holds a strong position in the tech industry. In recent years, many new companies have been launched or established themselves here, and tech firms are experiencing rapid growth. The city's strengths, including innovation-driven major corporations, world-leading university incubators, and a multitude of active testbeds, contribute to the flourishing tech sector.

"The innovative solutions of the future are almost always developed through collaboration between large corporations and technology-driven startups. This is a global trend that we see here in Gothenburg, and in this evolution, expertise is crucial. Therefore, attracting tech talent to Gothenburg is important," says Andreas Göthberg, Head of Business and Entrepreneurship Development at Business Region Göteborg.

To help achieve this, Business Region Göteborg, in collaboration with Move to Gothenburg, has launched a campaign. The aim is to put Gothenburg's tech scene on the map, while simultaneously attracting entrepreneurs. This includes those who want to establish their own tech company and those who want to work in entrepreneur-driven businesses.

Over eight weeks, social media videos will be targeted towards markets in the nearby region that are also strong in tech – Denmark, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, and the Baltic countries.

“We know that the Gothenburg region is attractive and interesting for international talents looking to come here and work for our major corporations. However, with this initiative, we also aim to highlight the opportunity to come and work for one of our rapidly growing tech companies or establish their own company here,” says Andreas Göthberg.

He believes that there is intense competition for individuals with this skill set, and therefore, the campaign is also crucial for the major companies in the region.

“In the future, they will not only compete with other large industrial companies for talent but with all tech companies. Through this campaign, we aim to attract tomorrow's employees for them as well,” says Andreas Göthberg.
