The newly built 16,000 sqm facility has a capacity for 1,000 employees. It is located in the heart of the GoCo Health Innovation City, which continues to expand. The new life science hub already gathers around 100 companies and is a workplace for thousands of life science professionals.

“Placing Mölnlycke together with other key players in life science is a game-changer. It opens up entirely new possibilities for us to collaborate with experts from various disciplines, and the chance to practice what we preach: embracing partnerships,” said Zlatko Rihter, CEO of Mölnlycke in statement when the new headquarters was unveiled.

A cutting-edge R&D facility with flexible collaboration spaces

The new facility triples Mölnlycke’s laboratory space, significantly expanding its capacity for research and development. The company said it will also enhance its ability to attract top global talent.

“This wonderful building is more than just bricks and mortar—it embodies the boldness and passion that define Mölnlycke,” said Zlatko Rihter in a press release.

“We’re excited to be part of a community that shares our vision of smarter, safer and more sustainable healthcare,” he added.

The company was previously based in Gamlestaden, eastern Gothenburg. It relocated to GoCo Health Innovation City earlier this year.

“Mölnlycke Health Care has long been an important part of the region’s business community, and we are delighted that they continue to consolidate their operations here in Gothenburg. Their presence further strengthens the health innovation hub in Mölndal, which has fast become a highly attractive environment for life science and tech companies,” says Iris Öhrn, investment advisor for life science at Business Region Göteborg.

Did you know this about Gothenburg?

The region has two main hubs for life science and health innovation: GoCo Health Innovation City and Medicinareberget (Medicine hill).

GoCo gathers several large corporations including AstraZeneca, Wellspect Healthcare, FujireBio and Mölnlycke Health Care – and a growing number of innovative SMEs and service providers. New facilities, including Thermo Fisher Scientific’s new bioanalytical lab and CCRM Nordic's new lab for commercialising advanced therapies, are under construction.

The area around Medicinareberget is a hub for education, research and innovation housing university campuses, one of Europe’s largest university hospitals, a science park and nearly 300 healthtech companies. The area is also expanding with new buildings and refurbishments both underway and planned.
