Gothenburg to host the Nordics’ largest life science partnering event

NLSDays, an important partnering and investment conference for the life science sector in the Nordics, will be held in Gothenburg for the first time ever. Industry leaders, decision makers and innovators from across the world will gather in the city in October 2025.

Central Gothenburg

“Hosting international events like NLSDays is crucial for Gothenburg as it significantly enhances our city’s global visibility and reputation. NLSDays will attract around 1,700 key people in the life science sector, an area where Gothenburg excels and prioritizes,” says Iris Öhrn, investment advisor for life science at Business Region Göteborg

In the Gothenburg region, there are over 600 companies within life science, which together employ around 10,000 people, mainly in knowledge-intensive jobs. Ten of the companies have a turnover of over SEK one billion. Gothenburg is particularly strong in pharmaceutical development and advanced therapies, wound care and infections, hygiene and various forms of medical technology, or health tech.

Göteborg & Co and Business Region Göteborg have worked together closely during the whole process to attract NLSDays to Gothenburg.

“By bringing the largest partnering and investment event in the Nordics within life sciences to Gothenburg, the city will foster valuable networking and collaboration opportunities. It’s also an excellent opportunity to showcase the region’s strengths and capabilities to the right people,” says Iris.

NLSDays is arranged by SwedenBIO and next year’s event will be held at the Swedish Congress & Exhibition Centre on 13-14 October 2025.

During NLSDays 2025, the city will organize a series of events in collaboration with local stakeholders including Sahlgrenska Science Park, GoCo Health Innovation City and AstraZeneca.

A popular city for events

Gothenburg is one of Sweden’s main event cities. With venues that are conveniently located in the city centre, Gothenburg has made a strong impression on the international events map, not least in terms of conferences. Next year, for example, Gothenburg will also host EVS 38, the Electric Vehicle Symposium, an important global e-mobility event; and Vitalis, the largest digital health event in the Nordics.
