Swerea's textile laboratories - which are some of Northern Europe's most substantial - offers testing, analysis and characterisation of textile materials. Their expertise within textile chemistry and mechanics, physical properties and materials science means that they can offer support in the production of new textile materials.
In modern laboratories, and by utilizing over 400 testing methods, the testbed is able to perform the majority of tests and analyses applicable to textile materials. The tests comprise technical textiles such as filters, protective products and medical technology products. Examples of fabricated products are clothing, home textiles and vehicle interiors.
Furthermore, the testbed can assist in product development. For instance, if a customer has an idea but is unsure of which textile material to use. A goal can also be to determine more eco-friendly manufacturing methods or to make use of raw materials from forests.
