Polish engineering company opens office in Gothenburg

The professional engineering company OMK Solutions started their expansion to the Nordics in 2019, starting in Finland. Now they are opening an office in Gothenburg.

OMK Solutions, with its headquarters in Gdańsk, is specialising in the implementation of electrical and hydraulic systems, full-service in assembly and installation of industrial equipment, and recently started with outsourcing of specialists. The company started as an industrial automation company but soon expanded its range of services to marine and industrial engineering.

The company is now looking into the growing needs of the Swedish market and is opening its first Swedish representative office in Gothenburg.

“Because the Gothenburg region is a leading research region that is highly competitive on the international stage and because Gothenburg-based companies have invested heavily in development in recent years, we decided to open our representative office there. The very fact of the strategic location of the city is, certainly, not without significance, as well as openness to cooperation on the part of business owners and entrepreneurs,“ Mikołaj Grupa and Agata Erlandsson, co-owners at OMK Solutions.

Due to the pandemic, the formalities took a bit longer than expected, but the new office will open in May. The company is looking forward to establishing contact with companies in the Swedish market.

“We would like to establish contact with companies in Sweden that are looking for alternatives to their technology partners and with companies looking for qualified teams of consultants. Our goal is to build a bridge connecting the needs of companies from the Gothenburg region and the capabilities of qualified technical workers and engineers from northern Poland. The short distance separating us - between Gdańsk and Gothenburg, it is only an hour's flight and a well-developed network of connections, create great conditions for developing cooperation,“ says Mikołaj and Agata.

Erik Behm is Area and investment manager for ICT at Business Region Göteborg. He thinks that establishments like this only will keep growing to meet the economic growth and expansion in the region.

“With the economic growth and expansion in the Gothenburg region and the whole of West Sweden, competence and skilled workforce is essential to be able to grow sustainably. Our education system is important but as important as to be able to attract a skilled labour force, regardless of area. I have been working with CEE (Central and Eastern Europe) for a long time and from the very first time I met with tech companies from Poland I was impressed by the competence but also the interest to work with us in the Nordics. With near-shoring as a growing trend, I forecast that Central and Eastern Europe as well as the Baltics and South-Eastern Europe are regions we should engage ourselves in much more. The Swedish presence is high in Poland and now with OMK as the first ICT company from Poland to establish in Gothenburg, I am sure this is the first in a row, to mutual benefit,” says Erik Behm, Area & Investment Manager ICT at Business Region Göteborg.

“I had the pleasure of working with Erik a few years ago when I was working for another company, and now that I myself have decided to take a step across the Baltic Sea and open an office in Sweden, I knew that I would get all the correct and up-to-date information from Business Region Göteborg. Erik's help was especially necessary for the process of obtaining an F-tax certificate, which for sure would have taken us longer without his help. I am glad that we can use Business Region Göteborg's knowledge and experience and we are optimistic about the future, counting on further support using the business opportunities and potential of the entire region,” says Agata Erlandsson, OMK Solutions.
