International House Gothenburg set to open its doors soon

How to find housing? How does the labor market work for my partner? Where are there schools and kindergartens? What do I do if I get sick? And how do I get out into the famous archipelago?  

The questions can be many when you come to Gothenburg from another country to work, research or study. Therefore, in mid-April, International House at Järntorget will open, a meeting place with all relevant services gathered under one roof and where you can more easily establish yourself in your new hometown through a personal and professional reception. The initiative is the largest of its kind in Sweden.  

With this initiative we reaffirm our commitment, as a city and region, to welcome expertise from all around the world. This will be done by gathering information and services such as advice on jobs, housing, and school at a one-stop-shop. The International House Gothenburg is designed to be a meeting place for global professionals and students, where welcome events, training programmes, seminars, network meetings, among others, will be held.  

To maintain our position as a leading competence region, all companies in the Gothenburg region need to have access to the necessary competence. This is where International House plays an important role in helping international competence to enter the local market. International competence strengthens the region's innovation capacity, creates multi-cultural workplaces, and increases the attractiveness for foreign establishments and investments.    

International House Gothenburg is a collaboration between City of Gothenburg, Business Region Göteborg, Region Västra Götaland, Labour Market and Adult Education Committee City of Gothenburg (Arbvux) and Move to Gothenburg.  

International House is the output of several years of design, planning, and development of the concept lead by Move to Gothenburg. Move to Gothenburg is a collaborative initiative that aims to attract and welcome highly skilled internationals and get them to stay and thrive in the Gothenburg region. The initiative is run within the framework of a regional platform comprising stakeholders from the business community, academia as well as city and region.
