First tenants move into the Geely Innovation Centre

14 January 2020
The first building of the Geely Innovation Centre in Gothenburg is up and running with 1,000 people now in the new facility. When complete, the entire campus, which will be named Uni3 by Geely, will have space for over 3,500 people.

Among the first tenants in is CEVT, which works with mobility solutions and is part of the Geely Group. The company has transferred half of its organisation, around 1,000 people, into the new building at Lindholmen. It will occupy six of the building’s eight floors.

“This is a big day for everyone who has worked tirelessly to meet this deadline. I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all who have made this possible. We are now well underway to start to gather the Geely family in Gothenburg in one campus,” said Gang Wei, Project Executive for the Geely Innovation Centre, at a housewarming event on 10 January.

In total, the Geely Innovation Centre will consist of five buildings with a total area of over 100,000 sqm. The new campus will gather Geely’s activities in Sweden, including CEVT, Geely Sweden Holdings and Geely Group Motorsports.

“We look forward to all of CEVT being able to move in when the next office building is ready and also the design studio,” says Mats Fägerhag, CEO of CEVT.

The campus will also have workspaces open to other companies and the public as well as a hotel, cafes and restaurants. In total, the office buildings will have seats for at least 3,500 people.

The multi-billion kronor investment was first announced in June 2017 when a letter of intent was signed between the Geely Auto Group and the land owner the City of Gothenburg. All five buildings are scheduled for completion during 2022.

Business Region Göteborg has helped to facilitate the investment by providing Geely with advice and practical support, business information, and connecting the company with relevant contacts, for example within public authorities.

“Lindholmen is a magnet for talent and investments. Geely’s innovation centre will further strengthen the area with another exciting arena for innovators and collaboration in automotive. At the same time, the new campus also shows the long-term nature of Geely’s investment in Gothenburg’s automotive cluster,” says Joel Görsch, investment advisor for automotive at Business Region Göteborg.
