HSB Living Lab
WHAT: A living lab for research on sustainable living environment. HSB Living Lab is a research and demonstration arena which also includes homes for students and guest researchers. The aim of this exciting project is to create knowledge of a more sustainable lifestyle in the home. We want to create innovations on site which will help to enhance the quality of present and future homes and buildings. HSB Living Lab will provide a venue for enhanced understanding of sustainability. HSB Living Lab is a collaboration between industry, city and academia.
WHERE: Chalmers campus, Gothenburg
PARTNERS: Johanneberg Science Park, HSB and Chalmers University of Technology have initiated HSB Living Lab. Main partners are Chalmers, HSB and Johanneberg Science Park. Collaboration partners are Tengbom, Peab, Akademiska Hus, Tieto, Electrolux, Bengt Dahlgren, Göteborg Energi, Elfa, Vedum.
FINANCING: Participating companies
ACCESSIBILITY: Other partners will probably be welcome into the testbed as long as their products or services complemente the rest of the operation and not compete with existing equipment.
International award to HSB Living Lab
HSB Living Lab in Gothenburg was in third place in the 2016 Green Building Solutions Awards for buildings and concepts that contribute to combatting climate change.
The winners were announced at the international conference COP22 in Marrakech.
HSB Living Lab is a research arena where companies, academia and public players collaborate to develop the housing of the future. The building, situated close to Chalmers Technical University, contains 29 apartments where researchers and students live while innovation and research is carried out in their homes.
- Showcasing this project internationally in conjunction with one of the most important climate conferences is a great opportunity that enables faster global dissemination of smart solutions from the project, says Maria Ådahl, manager for Open Arena Urban Development at Johanneberg Science Park.
Green Building Solutions Awards is an international contest organized by the network Construction21. Every year, it rewards buildings, solutions, and best eco-districts involved in the fight against climate change.
